Thanks for helping us out with this test project!
This is a panfandom challenge to write stories based on words from the dictionary of obscure sorrows. 23 words were selected in this post below, but you may also chose a word from the larger dictionary, an example being anemoia.
Since this is a creative exercise and not a standard fest/prompt meme, please claim a word from the list of prompts. Feel free to be inspired by as many of the words as you wish, just for organizational purposes officially choose one. However, if you wish to write a word that's not on the list, please follow the instruction below in rules.
While being a creative exercise, this is also a test to figure out the functionality of the prompt meme challenge type collection on Ao3, so we apologize for the way the challenge doesn't quite fit the format. Please bear with us.
This challenge is open for sign ups effective immediately. Stories are due 30 December 2015 and the stories will be revealed on 1 Juanuary 2016.
Please claim a word from the list of prompts. Feel free to be inspired by as many of the words as you wish, just for organizational purposes officially choose one. However, if you want to chose a different word from the dictionary of obscure sorrows, please sign up with and claim the word that YOU personally wish to write, by putting the word in the request field with the definition, and linking to the post in the url field.
ONLY SIGN UP IF YOU ARE WRITING A WORD FROM THE DICTIONARY OF OBSCURE SORROWS THAT HAS NOT ALREADY BEEN PROMPTED. Please do not re-prompt words that have already been claimed as it's possible to claim a prompt more than once, so please do that. You can check which words have already been prompted on the prompt list.
This is panfandom but you may also write an original story. This is also not limited to prose, poetry is also acceptable. There is no minimum word count but 500 words would be nice (poetry is exempted from this rule). Feel free to claim as many words as you like, however, you must fill one before claiming the next. This challenge is not anonymous, you may discuss your story wherever you please. In addition, if you have already written a story/poem for one of the words from the dictionary, even if you have already posted it elsewhere, feel free to sign up with the word you've already written and claim and submit it to the challenge community. You may use this story for any other event/exchange you please (as long as the reveal date is NOT after January 1 as that would break the rules of your other event), even posting it first elsewhere, as long as it is also submitted to the ao3 collection for the due date (30 December 2015). Please direct further questions to the comments section below or email email@example.com. Anonymous is on, screening is off.
